Mercyful Fate’s Don’t Break The Oath Gets Special 40th Anniversary Vinyl Reissue

Danish heavy metal legends Mercyful Fate are set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their groundbreaking album Don’t Break The Oath with a special vinyl reissue, courtesy of Metal Blade Records, on November 1st. Originally released in 1984 by Roadrunner Records, this new edition commemorates the iconic record’s four decades of influence and impact on the metal genre.

Brian Slagel, founder and CEO of Metal Blade Records, expressed his excitement: “We’re thrilled to honor the anniversary of one of the most legendary albums of all time: Mercyful Fate’s Don’t Break The Oath. At Metal Blade, we’re incredibly proud to be reissuing this album on vinyl. The band will also be releasing a range of fantastic merchandise to celebrate. We invite everyone to check out the repress and join us in celebrating this milestone!”

Monte Conner, head of A&R at Nuclear Blast and former VP of A&R at Roadrunner Records, added, “Following up on Melissa, one of the greatest metal debuts ever, with Don’t Break The Oath was an impressive feat. The album not only featured standout tracks like ‘Gypsy,’ ‘The Oath,’ and ‘Come To The Sabbath,’ but it also showcased even better production and more fleshed-out songs. Every track on this album is a classic, and it’s fantastic to see it reaching a new generation of metal fans 40 years later. Metal Blade is the perfect label to handle this reissue.”

The 40th anniversary edition of Don’t Break The Oath will be available on special Ruby Red vinyl, making it a must-have for collectors and fans alike.
