The stage is set for history as Trinity Valley Community College (33-3) prepares to battle Connors State College (32-3) for the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship today at 1 p.m. CST in Hutchinson Sports Arena, Kansas. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
For Trinity Valley, this marks a milestone moment—their first-ever championship game appearance. Led by Head Coach Greg Heiar, the Cardinals have fought their way through a tough bracket to earn a shot at the title. Heiar, along with star players Tyler Smith and CJ Outlaw, all have a connection to Mineral Area College before making their mark at Trinity Valley. Now, they stand on the brink of an NJCAA championship.

Connors State, located in Warner, Oklahoma, is no stranger to the big stage. The Cowboys last won the national title in 1990 and are looking to reclaim their place at the top after extending their winning streak to 14 games. They punched their ticket to the championship with an 80-74 semifinal victory over South Plains College. DJ Dormu led the way with 28 points and six assists, while Edwin Daniel recorded a dominant double-double with 13 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks.
Trinity Valley secured its place in the finals with a gritty 51-47 win over Panola College. Zati Loubaki led the Cardinals with 17 points, and Garrett Nuckolls added a crucial double-double. Tyler Smith contributed seven assists and eight points to help seal the win.
