Mayday Parade Talks New Album and 20-Year Legacy on Midwest Mixtape Podcast

As one of the most enduring acts to rise from the underground in the mid-aughts, Mayday Parade has soundtracked both adolescence and adulthood for millions of listeners. Their music stands synonymous with the emo and pop-punk genres, with their debut LP A Lesson In Romantics (2007) hailed as one of the most influential emo albums of all time by Alternative Press. Their 2013 album Monsters In The Closet debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, while hits like “Jamie All Over,” “Miserable At Best,” and “Oh Well, Oh Well” have cemented their place in the pop-punk hall of fame.

Now, as Mayday Parade celebrates 20 years as a band in 2025, they’re set to release their most ambitious project yet: a three-part album showcasing their emotionally charged songwriting. The first entry, Sweet, arrives April 18, 2025, led by the infectious single “By The Way,” which blends tender piano melodies with anthemic guitar riffs. Recorded with longtime producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, Sweet marks the band’s first self-released album since their grassroots beginnings on the Vans Warped Tour.

Guitarist Brooks Betts recently appeared on the Midwest Mixtape Podcast, giving fans an inside look at the creative process behind this milestone project. As they prepare to hit the road for their Three Cheers for 20 Years Tour, Mayday Parade will make a highly anticipated stop at The Pageant in St. Louis on Monday, April 28th. The tour will feature support from Microwave, Grayscale, and Like Roses, making it a must-see event for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

With Sweet kicking off a new era for Mayday Parade, their legacy remains stronger than ever. As they continue to push the boundaries of their sound, their connection with fans only deepens, proving that two decades in, the excitement surrounding the band is far from fading.
