Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park at I-55 Steals the Show in Star-Studded Sprint Car Throwdown

In a field packed with some of the biggest names in dirt track racing, it wasn’t just the drivers that had fans on their feet Friday night — it was the track itself that stole the spotlight.

The Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, MO, once again lived up to its legend during the opener of the Federated Auto Parts Spring Classic. The 1/3-mile bullring delivered a masterclass in Sprint Car racing, showcasing the very soul of dirt track competition — breathtaking speed, edge-of-your-seat drama, and nonstop action from flag to flag.

From the moment the green flag waved, the track proved to be the ultimate equalizer. With a slick top shelf, a grippy cushion, and lines that kept changing lap after lap, every inch of I-55 was alive with possibilities — and chaos. Huge slide jobs, ruthless crossovers, and daring momentum changes lit up the night. It was Sprint Car racing in its purest form.

At the front of the field, Carson Macedo and Logan Schuchart engaged in a war worthy of highlight reels and history books. Macedo, wheeling the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41, chased down Schuchart. What followed was a thriller for the ages — a chess match at fast speeds with both drivers trading blows, countering, and adapting with every lap.

Macedo who would eventually hold off Schuchart after a green-white-checkered finish to snag his second win of 2025.

It was Macedo’s 49th career win with the Outlaws, placing him one away from becoming just the 18th driver to join the 50-win club. Fittingly, three of those have come at I-55, a track that suits his high-speed, high-risk style perfectly.

David Gravel rounded out the podium and kept his unreal consistency alive — 14 races into the season, and he still hasn’t missed a top-five finish. The defending champ leads the points standings by 76 over Macedo.

But no matter who stood on the podium or whose name echoed in Victory Lane, the real winner — the true MVP — was the track itself.

On a night filled with horsepower and heroics, it was the Pevely dirt that proved once again why it’s considered hallowed ground in Sprint Car circles. Every cushion-pounding turn and straightaway was a reminder that this isn’t just a race track — it’s a proving ground.

The Spring Classic wraps up Saturday, April 12, and if Friday night was any indication, you’re going to want a front-row seat — because at Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, the dirt is the real showstopper.

Beyond the roaring engines and edge-of-your-seat action, Friday night at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park offered more than just elite racing—it was a family-friendly experience through and through. From kids cheering in the grandstands to parents sharing their love of sprint car racing with the next generation, the atmosphere was electric yet welcoming. With clean facilities, engaging fan activities, and a safe environment, the Pevely oval continues to be a go-to destination for race fans of all ages looking to create unforgettable memories together.
