Under the warm Missouri night sky, 311 delivered an electrifying headlining performance at Pointfest 2025, once again reminding fans why their name is etched deep into the foundation of alternative rock. Taking the stage at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, the band sounded as tight and dialed-in as ever—proving that after more than three decades, their chemistry is still unmatched.

One of the most remarkable aspects of 311’s legacy is that the lineup of Nick Hexum, Chad Sexton, P-Nut, Tim Mahoney, and SA Martinez has remained intact since the early 90’s. That rare consistency was on full display during their headlining set, with an incredibly cohesive rhythm section and fluid guitar work accenting their unmistakable genre-bending sound. From reggae-infused alt-rock to funk-heavy jams, 311 performed with the same vibrant energy that propelled them to fame decades ago.

The night’s setlist was packed with fan favorites and deep cuts, showcasing the band’s versatility and catalog depth. Highlights included explosive renditions of “Down,” “All Mixed Up,” and “Beautiful Disaster,” which had the crowd singing every word. One of the night’s standout moments came when Nick Hexum joined The Urge onstage for a powerful performance of “Jump Right In” a track he originally contributed to, bringing full-circle nostalgia and St. Louis love to the amphitheater.

311’s set at Pointfest 2025 was a masterclass in balance—fusing fan-favorite hits with deeper cuts that showcased the full breadth of their career. The band opened with the infectious energy of “Come Original” and kept the momentum going with staples like “Do You Right” and the laid-back groove of “Amber.” The crowd roared for “Creatures (For a While),” and the emotional weight of “Beyond the Gray Sky” added depth to the high-energy night. Longtime fans were thrilled to hear “Don’t Stay Home” and the soaring “Feels So Good,” while the percussion-heavy “Applied Science” gave drummer Chad Sexton a spotlight moment with a thunderous solo. The night culminated in a raucous performance of “Down,” as fists pumped and voices echoed throughout the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre. With each song, 311 proved their signature sound—equal parts funk, reggae, rock, and hip-hop—is as timeless as ever.

Bassist P-Nut appeared on the Midwest Mixtape Podcast, where he shared reflections on the band’s journey, their creative process, and their unshakeable bond. His insight provided fans with a behind-the-scenes look into what keeps 311 pushing forward with purpose and passion.

Outside the band, frontman Nick Hexum continues to explore new creative territories with the release of his latest solo EP, Full Memories, the second EP in his lunar-themed trilogy following February’s Waxing Nostalgic, with the final installment, Waning Time, expected this summer. Full Memories finds Hexum diving into reflective, Americana and bluegrass-inspired territory, offering four original tracks and a heartfelt cover of Chappell Roan’s “California.” The EP includes collaborations with Ben Kweller, Alan Hampton (Andrew Bird, Madison Cunningham), Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters, The Wallflowers), Joel Martin, and Kenny Feinstein (Water Tower), and features a personal touch with “Where I Belong,” co-written with his sister. On “California,” Hexum draws parallels to his own story—leaving the Midwest for California at 17 in pursuit of big dreams before returning home to form 311—calling the lyrics deeply relatable and emotionally resonant. With its mix of introspective songwriting and genre exploration, Full Memories is a surprising and sincere chapter in Hexum’s solo journey.
