Donkey Kong Bananza Launches July 17 on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has announced Donkey Kong Bananza, a brand-new 3D platformer launching exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17. Revealed during a dedicated Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, the game pairs Donkey Kong with singer-turned-ally Pauline in a wild underground quest full of action, music, and bananas.

The adventure begins on Ingot Isle, where DK discovers golden bananas—only to be thrown deep underground by a mysterious storm. There he meets Pauline, now “Odd Rock,” and together they journey toward the Planet Core, battling the sinister Void Company along the way.

Gameplay features include:

  • Smash and bash mechanics like Dive Punch, Turf Surfing, and Hand Slap
  • Transformations like Kong Bananza (super strength), Zebra Bananza (speed), and Ostrich Bananza (flight), powered by Pauline’s singing
  • Local and online co-op, GameShare, and voice/video chat via Joy-Con 2
  • Collectibles like Banandium Gems, Chips, and Gold used for upgrades, skills, and customization
  • New and returning characters including Cranky Kong, Rambi, and villains like Void Kong

Players can also enjoy extras like Photo Mode, DK Artist, Getaways, and Eelevator fast-travel. A special Donkey Kong & Pauline amiibo launches alongside the game, unlocking bonus content.

Donkey Kong Bananza launches July 17, only on Nintendo Switch 2.
