Top Fuel standout Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Dragster team are fired up for the American Rebel Light NHRA Virginia Nationals, set for this weekend at Virginia Motorsports Park. As the ninth stop on the 20-race 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, the two-day event presents a high-stakes challenge, especially in the sweltering summer heat.
Ashley, currently fourth in the Top Fuel points standings, heads into Virginia with strong momentum following runner-up finishes at Thunder Valley, the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals, and Route 66 Nationals. Guided by veteran crew chiefs Mike Green and Tommy DeLago, the SCAG Toyota team is clicking at the right time.
“Virginia Motorsports Park is a fantastic facility, and we’re excited to race in front of such passionate fans,” said Ashley, the 2020 NHRA Rookie of the Year. “This weekend is all about execution and consistency. The teams that can go A to B reliably will succeed, especially with how hot it’ll be. I’m so grateful for my crew—they’re the key to everything.”
Historically, Ashley has struggled at this track with first-round exits in 2022 and 2024, but he did win a Top Alcohol Dragster regional event in 2018, proving he can succeed at this venue. This weekend, he’ll need four win-lights on Sunday to claim his first professional win at Virginia.
Ashley will also compete in the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge during qualifying sessions two and three, marking the first time all three SCAG Racing drivers—Ashley, Daniel Wilkerson, and Dave Richards—are competing in the Challenge simultaneously.
