Karma Strikes Back in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Slashing into Theaters July 18

“This summer, karma is a killer.”

A chilling new chapter in a classic horror saga is set to hit the big screen on July 18, 2025, as I Know What You Did Last Summer returns exclusively to movie theaters. With a fresh cast, twisted secrets, and nods to the franchise’s terrifying origins, the film promises to be a must-see event for horror fans both old and new.

A Secret They Swore to Bury

The story follows five friends whose world is shattered after a deadly car accident they caused one summer night. Choosing secrecy over accountability, they make a pact to never speak of what happened. But a year later, their darkest fears come true—someone knows. Now stalked by an unseen killer and picked off one by one, the group is forced to face the horrifying consequences of their choices.

As the body count rises, they uncover a terrifying truth: this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Desperate for answers, they seek help from two survivors of the infamous Southport Massacre of 1997, drawing iconic original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. back into the fold.

A New Vision for a New Generation

Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge), and written alongside Sam Lansky, the film weaves a new mystery with familiar bones. Building on the original story by Leah McKendrick and Robinson herself, the film is produced by franchise veteran Neal H. Moritz, with Robinson also serving as executive producer alongside Jackie Shenoo and Karina Rahardja.

A Cast That Cuts Deep

Leading the new cast is Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), joined by Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, and Austin Nichols. With the return of Hewitt and Prinze Jr., fans can expect the past and present to collide in terrifying fashion.

The Legacy Lives On

Originally launching in 1997, I Know What You Did Last Summer became a defining slasher film of its era. This new installment honors its roots while injecting a fresh dose of suspense, secrets, and revenge. With its mix of high-stakes horror and generational trauma, the film asks: how far would you go to keep a secret buried?
